IT Committee

INTRODUCTION:

The IT Committee has 2 Co-chairs that are each responsible for the OC & LA Districts, and the service activities subject to that district. In IT Committee, we are here to self-develop and help/teach underserved young students through Scratch Coding classes. It is a fun yet educational way to introduce coding and help younger students find their passions early on.  Our members volunteer at KECLA  ( Korean Education Center in LA, 한국 문화원) or Senuri Korean School (새누리 한국학교), and we have a total of 5 classes to volunteer (online OR in-person) and are looking for enthusiastic members who are willing to dedicate themselves to help others.

The rest of this year, we plan on continuing to volunteer at KECLA & Senuri Coding classes as well as providing advanced self development classes, like Javascript or Python, for IT Committee members.

BOARD MEMBERS:

Hello, my name is Ashley Kim and I am serving as the IT Committee’s OC Chair for the 2023-2024 term. As the IT OC Chair, I am responsible of all Senuri Korean School Coding classes, which are held online every saturday. At Senuri Coding classes, we use Scratch to help students develop games that are enjoyable, but also educational about the basics of coding and Korean culture. Senuri Coding classes are 100% student led, and are a great opportunity for members to grow not just as students, but also as a teacher and leader. Members may often be placed in situations where team communication and cooperation is needed, and having these skills will not only help the members complete Coding classes efficiently, but they will also be highly useful skills in the future.
